I have lived in the area since the 1980s and have been involved with Threshfield Primary School in one way or another since then!  All three of our children were educated here and I was also lucky enough to be the Year 5 and 6 class teacher for many years. More recently I was employed by North Yorkshire as a Specialist Teacher for Communication and Interaction supporting Primary Schools in Craven.

I passionately believe that children need to feel happy and secure in an educational setting in order to learn and achieve their full potential whatever their ability. I hope to be able to support the school to continue to develop and thrive.

I am pleased to join the governing body at Threshfield School. Both my daughters attended and loved their time there. Now I am retired I am glad to be able to put something back to support the school in its continued efforts to engage children and help them learn in a happy and secure environment. I am familiar with the demands of running a rural school as I was previously a primary school teacher and Head of department, specialising in literacy.

I moved to Linton at the end of August 2018, with my wife Ellie and two young boys, just in time for my eldest to start in reception at Threshfield that year. Our youngest son is now also at Threshfield, and both boys love the school, and are really benefiting from the great environment.

Ellie is originally from Addingham, with family still in the area, so we're here for the long-term, and I'm excited to help the school to continue to thrive. Being part of a rural community is in my blood, having grown up in a farming family, although nowadays I work in the IT services industry.

With numerous ties to Yorkshire, we decided to move to the Dales in September 2020, just in time for our son to start pre-school at Threshfield Primary. The school has played a pivotal role for our family settling in to the area and I hope I can help it continue to flourish, enriching the lives of its pupils and the wider community.
