At Threshfield Primary School we recognise that children learn in different ways, and that learning should be an ongoing process. That is why we aim to provide a meaningful, stimulating and engaging curriculum that motivates children to become fully involved in their own learning.
Our curriculum supports all children’s personal and academic development. It gives them the basic skills to be successful members of society and the wider world. We have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy throughout the school, since these are areas that unlock so much learning in other subjects. We also place a lot of importance on science and computing, as these are subjects that are becoming increasingly important in today’s society. Other foundation subjects are taught with exciting and challenging lessons that develop children’s knowledge and understanding of the world and their place in it.
Our children also benefit from sport, science, French and music lessons which are taught by specialist teachers. Educational visits, workshops with visitors and the extensive use of a wide range of technology add to the learning experiences of all our children.
No matter what the lesson though, all our children are challenged to learn to their full potential, and to then apply their knowledge and understanding in a range of contexts.
