My background is in business, having worked in a variety of industries and roles, including sales and marketing, advertising, forestry, classic car restoration and consultancy - quite a collection !  I have been the MD of my own Landscaping business based here in Skipton for over 12 years now.

My two teenage sons have been going though the Skipton school system and I have been an active school governor in that system for the past 6 years.   I believe that every child deserves to have the choice of a decent local school and with that a great education, where they are supported to achieve their best, and of course to have fun.

I became a parent governor at Threshfield in October 2016, shortly after my daughter joined the school. I have very happy memories of attending my village primary school in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, and want to help Threshfield achieve its goals. My background is in financial services which has been useful in understanding school budgets and funding. I have three children and in my spare time I love yoga, running and growing flowers for floristry.

Hello!

I’m Gill Martin, happily married to Phil and we moved into Threshfield in June 2018. I have a  married daughter, who lives with her family in Texas and my married son lives with his family on Vancouver Island!
All my working life has been in education, originally teaching in a primary school in inner city Bradford and eventually becoming part of the senior management team at that school as head of early years.
After a significant number of years (!) I left teaching and became an educational life coach, helping and supporting head teachers, as well as their staff and pupils as they navigated the challenging complexities of both work and home in the 21st century!
I count it a privilege to be part of Threshfield Primary School Governing body and look forward to playing my part in supporting the staff, pupils and their families.

I have lived in Rylstone with my husband Jonathan for twenty years.   We have two boys who until recently went to Threshfield Primary School and now attend school in Skipton.  I work in the Recruitment sector for a firm of Headhunters.

I became a Parent Governor at Threshfield Primary School in 2014 and have been the Vice-Chair and Chair of Governors at different times.  I am currently a Co-opted Governor and am thrilled to still have a connection with the school even though my children have now left.  I enjoy watching all the children grow and develop during their school years and am keen to maintain a close relationship with the school and local community.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time in the gorgeous countryside we are lucky enough to have in the Dales and enjoy walking, running and cycling when I’m not watching the boys participate in sport.  I am also a keen baker.

I have lived in Linton for just over a year now and moved my three children to Threshfield School shortly after becoming a teacher here. Prior to working here I taught French at Grassington School for three years. My early teaching career was in Oxford where I lived for ten years. I was head of the Pre-School at a boys school for six of those years before moving back to the delightful Yorkshire Dales.
