Physical Education has always been a high priority for Threshfield Primary School. KS2 children are planned and taught by a PE specialist teacher and our KS1 children are taught by our PE coordinator. UKS2 children have weekly swimming lessons in the Autumn term and the LKS2 children have weekly swimming sessions in the Spring term.
In the Summer term the children are also taught Tag Rugby by a specialist Rugby coach; these sessions are celebrated with a cluster festival where every single child takes part in the tournament.
We encourage sporting participation in our cluster festivals with lots of our teams reaching finals throughout the the year.
Children in year 5 and 6 take part in adventurous outdoor residentials at Buckden House and Cober Hill.
Sports Premium Funding.
This money is allocated annually in our school budget and is designated specifically for developing children’s physical education.
We spend the vast majority of this funding paying for sports coaches from Kanga Sports which is not only providing our pupils with high quality resources and specialist teaching, but also providing essential staff training too.
In autumn terms 1&2 funding has been used for Year 2 and lower KS2 to receive weekly swimming lessons too.
The remaining amount is spent on tag rugby coaching and tournaments for KS2, as well as some specialist PE teaching for KS1 on our school site.
In addition to this we have also used some funding to subsidise water sports as part of Y6's residential trip to Cober Hill.
